It was a very Orky night. Not only did I finish my Green Moon Smackers for Dreadball, I am a few steps closer to completing my Dakkajet. Tonight I finished up the checker pattern I started last night and also got most of the work done on the canopy. Pretty much all that's left is some weathering and a little highlighting.
I plan on using the sponge method for the chipped paint and use some weathering powders for the rust and soot. Add a few washes to the mix and I think this is going to look pretty good.
Note to self... I still need to add a Bad Moon symbol to the tail.

Dreadball: The Green Moon Smackers are Finished
Finally got these guys done tonight. That makes two Dreadball teams in the can.
Here are the Jacks
Here are the Guards
Stay tuned for my next team, The New Asgard Giants (Forge Father team).

40K Project #4 - Bad Moons Orks Part 2
Today I got in my washes so I got to bathe my Dakkajet in Seraphim Sepia and Nuln Oil.
After that, things got a little crazy.
Tomorrow I will mask the model in preparation of some white on the front of the wings and tail. Once that dries I will do some checkerboard patterns on those areas. Then comes the weathering. I'm also going to do some work on the canopy to try to get a good highlight going. I kinda wish, in retrospect that I hadn't painted the canopy and had put a pilot in there with an open canopy but I think I can make this look good.

And Then There Were Nine
Today was a good day for our club.
First, we got in a large order that we had placed a little over a week ago. This order got the Dark Vengeance sets to two of our newer members as well as a ton of Space Wolves for another new guy.
Second, I got the second order placed to beef up the armies for the new guys.
Third, we got to play a couple of games today. We had two games running. Black Legion CSM beat the crap out of the Dark Angels and the Crimson Fists got smacked around by the Blood Angels. I only remembered to get a few photos of the Crimson Fist/Blood Angel game and was too busy playing to get any of the other game.
Fourth, the Crimson Fist player was playing his second game ever and is pretty much hooked and looking into getting an army of his own.
This is all great because it means that our little gaming club on a base of 3500 people now has nine players who show up at least once a week, even if they don't get to play all the time.
Also I wanted to give a quick thank you to Faeit 212 for all the traffic that has come my way from his blog. Hope some of you have liked what you see.
Here are a few quick shots from the game:

It Came From the Warp
After looking over the new Codex: Chaos Daemons this weekend, I have to say I'm really impressed with the overall feel of it. It's not OP in any way but it's also not weak. It's a good, balanced set of rules that bring a lot of fluff back to the Daemons.
I've never been a fan of the Daemons, with the exception of Bloodthirsters but that's just because I'm a Khorne junkie. Now with this book I'm looking at different builds using mono or dual gods. Mostly I'm looking at mono god builds because that's the way I personally feel the Daemons should be played. It's a balance built into the fluff. The gods don't like each other, even the ones that can get along when they need to hold a little animosity to their counterpart. If they did manage to get along on a long term basis, the galaxy would end. There wouldn't be anything in the universe to stop them. That's why I'm glad they got rid of that silly "Chaos Undivided" garbage from 3rd and 4th editions.
I guess I need to start looking into allying some Bloodletters and a Bloodthirster into my Khorne CSM army.
On to the models...
I feel really let down by the sculptors at GW. They do such good work most of the time but some of these new models are total ass. I mean, what's the deal with the bells on the Herald of Nurgle? And can someone please update the Bloodthirster model? That thing was terrible when it came out almost 20 years ago. It really needs an update. There's a reason I would run Angrath as my regular Bloodthirster when I used to ally them with my Berzerker army.
Actually, all the Khorne models are pretty lackluster. I am disappoint.
The best models in the range right now are the Slaanesh models. Yes, I know they gave them a PG-13 treatment but I'm sure some mom somewhere in America complained that her little boy was seeing boobies.
So yeah, that's my two cents. From a fluff gamer perspective, I'm very happy with this codex. I'm sure there are plenty of people who are screaming that the sky is falling because their Flamer/Screamer spam list is dead but I really don't care. If all you want to do is play the most powerful net list... let me introduce you to Warmachine.

Video: Maintaining Brush Control
Here's a quick video about how to get and keep brush control when painting eyes and fine details.
Airbrushing
In June 2011 I bought my first airbrush. It was a Master S68 siphon feed brush that came as a kit with a single piston tankless compressor from Amazon for $80. I planned to use it for a short time to learn how to airbrush. About a month later I was regretting the decision and sold that set off to a friend at a loss.
Next I bought a Badger Renegade Velocity with a dual piston compressor for $280.
I've been using the Renegade for all my priming, preshading and base coating ever since. If I have any complaint about this airbrush it would be clogging. It seems that unless I dilutenthe paint to the point that it's mostly thinner and water it seems to clog. The .21mm tip gives me a nice, fine line for pre shading but it has issues with clogging.
Tonight I broke down after taking an hour to clear coat the Dakka Jet due to constant clogging and I bought a Badger Renegade Rage which is a siphon feed airbrush with a .33mm tip. Hopefully this will help to reduce clogging.
I should have this in hand in about two weeks and as soon as I get it I'll run it through it's paces and give you a review.
