It Came From the Warp

After looking over the new Codex: Chaos Daemons this weekend, I have to say I'm really impressed with the overall feel of it.  It's not OP in any way but it's also not weak.  It's a good, balanced set of rules that bring a lot of fluff back to the Daemons.

I've never been a fan of the Daemons, with the exception of Bloodthirsters but that's just because I'm a Khorne junkie.  Now with this book I'm looking at different builds using mono or dual gods.  Mostly I'm looking at mono god builds because that's the way I personally feel the Daemons should be played.  It's a balance built into the fluff.  The gods don't like each other, even the ones that can get along when they need to hold a little animosity to their counterpart.  If they did manage to get along on a long term basis, the galaxy would end.  There wouldn't be anything in the universe to stop them.  That's why I'm glad they got rid of that silly "Chaos Undivided" garbage from 3rd and 4th editions.

I guess I need to start looking into allying some Bloodletters and a Bloodthirster into my Khorne CSM army.

On to the models...

I feel really let down by the sculptors at GW.  They do such good work most of the time but some of these new models are total ass.  I mean, what's the deal with the bells on the Herald of Nurgle?  And can someone please update the Bloodthirster model?  That thing was terrible when it came out almost 20 years ago.  It really needs an update.  There's a reason I would run Angrath as my regular Bloodthirster when I used to ally them with my Berzerker army.

Actually, all the Khorne models are pretty lackluster.  I am disappoint.

The best models in the range right now are the Slaanesh models.  Yes, I know they gave them a PG-13 treatment but I'm sure some mom somewhere in America complained that her little boy was seeing boobies.

So yeah, that's my two cents.  From a fluff gamer perspective, I'm very happy with this codex.  I'm sure there are plenty of people who are screaming that the sky is falling because their Flamer/Screamer spam list is dead but I really don't care.  If all you want to do is play the most powerful net list... let me introduce you to Warmachine.

Syko out!

    1. Yeah, I'm sure. There are so many second party models out there that do the Khornate Daemon look much better than GW. I kinda hate to say that but it's the truth.

      Going through the models:
Blood Throne should have been drawn by Juggernauts instead of whatever that stupid thing is. There is a possibility of some decent conversion work but it would be stupid expensive.
Bloodthirster as I said previously looks like crap.
Skulltaker = Trench Coat Mafia = garbage
Karanak is kind of cool but who's going to use him unless it's to pull the Blood Throne
Herald of Khorne on Juggernaut... everybody's gone surfin'... surfin' juggernaut.
Herald of Khorne is a nice dynamic model but it looks very fragile and will probably break the first time someone drops it... and what's with the stupid flaming skull?
Bloodcrushers - at least they are riding and not surfing. I love the Juggernaut model though.
Bloodletters - Give me back my 3rd ed models with the axes... in plastic.
Flesh Hounds - Those are some really cool triceratops models

Of course, you will like the models you like and these are just my opinion.

      Thanks for the comment.
